

Charles Eugene Blythe was born June 7, 1934 in Tuttle, Oklahoma to Mary Rebecca Yates and Charles Harvey Blythe. He spent his early years in Tuttle schools. At the age of nineteen, he enlisted in the Air Force and served 4 years. During that time, Charles learned to be an Air Traffic Controller, which became his occupation for 38 years until his retirement in 1992.
He moved to Shattack, Oklahoma in 1958 and began work at the Gage, Oklahoma Flight Service Facility and worked there for 13 years. Charles met his wife, Wilda Jean Shelton in 1959. They were married in 1961 and spent 50 happy years together. Charles and Wilda had 2 sons and 3 daughters. In 1971, the family lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana for 3 ½ years. Later, the family moved to Dallas where they have lived ever since, and where Charles worked at Dallas Love Field for 17 years.
Charles was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed life and his children and grandchildren. Charles was always ready to tell a good story. He was a devout Catholic and attended and served at daily Mass. Charles had a deep devotion to the Virgin Mary. He will be greatly missed.
Charles passed away February 23, 2012 at his home at the age of 77 years and 8 months. His survivors include his loving wife, Wilda; sons, Barry and Mark; daughters, Anita, Valerie and Carla; brothers, Fred, Ed, Leonard and Henry; sister, Florence; 14 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Joe; and niece, Brenda.
The family will receive friends at Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home in Dallas from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday, February 24, 2012. A Rosary followed by a Funeral Mass will be 12:00pm, Saturday, February 25, 2012 at St. Pius Catholic Church, 3030 Gus Thomasson Road, Dallas 75218, Presided by Rev. Michael Guadagnoli. A Committal Service will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas.
