Charles R. Coil

Charles Ray Coil passed peacefully September 15, 2014 with his family by his side in Dallas, TX, after a four-year battle with cancer. The longtime health insurance executive, managed-care architect and entrepreneur is survived by his beloved wife, Gail; his two children, Kim and Chris; his four grandchildren, Conor, Angelina, Ethan and Kaitlyn; and his three brothers, John, Bob and Mike. Charles will long be remembered by his family and friends for his warmth, good humor, kindness and generosity.

By his life’s example, he leaves a legacy for his children and grandchildren to follow. He held a deep love for his wife, provided a moral-compass and an example for his children, had a talent for making those around him smile and laugh and always put his family and friends first. He enjoyed life with a positive, can-do attitude that led to both personal and professional success.

Charles was born in 1940 in Midlothian, TX. After graduating from Midlothian High School, he earned a BBA from Southern Methodist University. Before launching a successful career as the president of the North Texas Healthcare Network, he was an innovative life insurance executive. He left healthcare in 1997 and continued to shine as an entrepreneur and the owner of Advance Labeling Solutions, which he sold at retirement in 2008.

Charles devoted his last years to enjoying the company of his loving wife, Gail, his children and grandchildren; supporting his family; and leaving them with the same inspiration and love of life that he shared with so many throughout his life.

A viewing will be held 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway in Dallas. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at University Park United Methodist Church, 4024 Caruth Blvd. in Dallas. Flowers can be sent to Sparkman/Hillcrest.
