It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for his life that we announce the passing of Charles Earl Dodson III, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of Jesus Christ. Charles was called home on Sunday, December 22, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 54 years old.
Born on April 10, 1970 in Dallas, TX, Charles lived a life marked by unwavering faith, selfless love, and boundless joy. His love for Jesus was the foundation of everything he did, guiding his actions and inspiring those around him.
Charles graduated from Garland Christian Academy in 1988 and pursued a successful career in computer technology and data security. He served as a manager in the field, dedicating his expertise to various roles, including his time at Switch Commerce, where he was known for his leadership and innovation.
A deeply passionate and well-read individual, Charles had a wide range of interests that brought joy to his life. He was an avid football fan, a car enthusiast, and a skilled cook who loved experimenting in the kitchen. His love for comic books reflected his lifelong appreciation for storytelling and imagination, which he cherished and often shared with others.
Charles was deeply devoted to his wife, Rhonda, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of 33 years. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and the irresistible aroma of his legendary cooking and grilling. His meals were more than food—they were an expression of his care, often bringing family and friends together around the table.
He adored his children, Charles IV and Rebecca, and his grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as Granddad. Whether teaching them life lessons, sharing stories, or cooking their favorite meals, Charles was a constant source of wisdom, humor, and love. His legacy of faith and family will live on in the lives of those he touched.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Fred and Dorothy Latimer; paternal grandparents, Charles Dodson Sr. and Carolyn Harrison; mother, Freida Dodson; father, Charles Dodson Jr.; and nephew, Christopher Max Petty.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; son, Charles Dodson IV; daughter, Rebecca (and Miguel); grandsons, Michael, Thomas, Elliott, and Oliver; sister, Collette Petty (and Ed); brother, Scott Ross (and Katelyn); and numerous nieces and nephews, family, and friends.
A celebration of Charles’ life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 4 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Elmo, TX.
Though we will miss him deeply, we take comfort in knowing he is now rejoicing in the presence of his Savior, hearing the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
Charles, you were a blessing to all who knew you, and your legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
