Charlie Estrada, a loving father, husband, brother, grandfather, and friend passed away on October 31, 2023. Although his illness and passing were sudden, he was able to be surrounded by his wife and sons’ day and night during his struggle, until the Lord gently called him home.
Charlie was larger than life. He loved his family above all things and although he was never shy about telling you his opinion, he was also always there to help in whatever way he could to whomever needed it. He was the hardest of men, working tirelessly to raise a family, being a provider and continuing to grow stronger in his faith to our Lord. His actions always spoke louder than his words and to all who knew him, he was an example of will and determination. His smile was a bright light in everyone’s life he touched, and he left his impression no matter how brief the encounter. He will be missed deeply as the void he leaves will be great, our only solace knowing he is now at rest with our Lord in Heaven and still watching over his family from above.
Born on March 2, 1947, in San Antonio Texas, he was the oldest of 6 siblings. Charlie grew up fast, taking care of his younger brothers and sisters while learning to be a responsible young man. After high school, he bravely volunteered for the United States Army, where he served in combat during the Vietnam War. At age 22, he married his high school sweetheart, Rosemary Chavez, and for over 50 years they were faithfully devoted to each other. He successfully retired from IBM after 30 years of employment and spent his remaining days in both Texas and Colorado, embracing life with his family and two grandchildren.
Charlie is survived by his wife Rosemary and his sons, Paul and Carlos Daniel, as well as his siblings Johnny, Elizabeth, Patricia and Anthony Estrada.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023 from 9:30 to 11:00am at Mary Immaculate Church, 2800 Valwood Pkwy, Farmers Branch, TX 75234.
