and earned a degree in petroleum engineering and engineering geology at the University of California at Berkeley. He was proud to serve as a combat engineer in the U.S. Army. He worked as a geologist in California, Alaska, Louisiana, Texas , Iran, Indonesia, Egypt and Australia. After retiring from geology, he worked for Wounded Warriors, Texas Motor Speedway, Rollx Vans and Webb Electronics. He continued to travel widely, and he was a car enthusiast and baseball fan. He was also an active volunteer for Special Olympics and many other organizations, and a dedicated pillar of the St. Sarkis Armenian Church community, where he served on the parish council. He and his wife started a vibrant seniors program at the church, and an exemplary neighborhood patrol program. He battled cancer for 10 years with the doting care of his surviving wife, Annie Graham. He is also survived by daughter Shevan Basmadjian of Carrollton, son Steven Graham of Fort Collins, Colo., and four grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Sarkis Seniors Program.
