Charles Dwain Martin, age 85, of Duncanville, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, at Avalon Memory Care in Arlington.
Born on July 22, 1941, to the late C.L. and Beulah Martin, Charles grew up with a sharp mind and a strong will. He graduated from Crozier Tech High School in 1959 before proudly serving his country for four years in the United States Army. Following his military service, Charles dedicated over 30 years of hard work to Brake Parts, Inc. in Dallas, Texas, before his retirement.
Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Charles shared a life and family with his late wife, Catherine (Cullen) Martin. Known by those close to him as a man of firm convictions, Charles was famously opinionated and—as he would proudly tell you—never wrong. He had a lifelong passion for golf and drag racing. He enjoyed the competition, excitement, and camaraderie that came with both, and these hobbies brought him many years of enjoyment.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, C.L. and Beulah Martin; his beloved wife, Catherine; his brother, Jerry Martin; and his sister, Joy Willeford.
He is survived by his son, Steven Martin and wife, Angie, of Midlothian, Texas; his son, Sean Martin, of Fort Worth, Texas; and his grandchildren, Hailey Martin, of Midlothian, Texas; Kelsey Martin and wife, Katelyn Cave, of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Sean Martin, Gavin Martin, and Sofia Martin, all of Arlington, Texas. He is also survived by several nieces and a nephew, along with extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.
Visitation will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L., Dallas, TX 75232, US, on September 17, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L., Dallas, TX 75232, US, on September 18, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Committal will follow at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L., Dallas, TX 75232, US, on September 18, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.
