Charles Edward Osborn, 80, of Dallas, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014, from a long-time illness, surrounded by his family. He will be remembered as a loving and faithful husband, a father full of wisdom, an adoring father-in-law, a proud grandfather, and good friend to many. Charlie, as he was best known, was born on April 16, 1933, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, and moved to Dallas at an early age. He served in the United States Army 1952-1954. He was a gifted stone mason, brick contractor, and homebuilder, and he could do and make anything with his hands. His favorite hobbies were building and flying remote-controlled airplanes and being a member of the “old-timers” coffee club at Chubby’s.
Born to Boyd and Neely Osborn, Charlie married the love of his young life, Dell Hill, on July 14, 1951, and they remained married for 62 years. Preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bobby, his daughter, Tracy, and his grandson, Zachary, he is survived by Dell, his son Scott and wife, Jan, and his grandsons, Alexander and Nicholas Osborn.
Charlie and Dell were members of Casa View Baptist Church for 30 years, and Park Cities Baptist Church for the past 27 years, where they have been faithful members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Lung Association, Zachary’s House through the Touch A Life Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
