Charles A. "Chuck" Thompson 65, passed away February 1, 2011. Also known as "Big Red", Chuck was a simple man, God's helper who was always ready to help anybody. He served his country in the US Navy, later becoming a sound technician for over 40 years. Chuck was the man who made Big Tex talk at the State Fair of Texas. Chuck was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Speigel. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Johnnie Thompson; daughters, Penny Thompson and Charlotte Thompson; siblings, Ginger Ellis, Marilyn Ohde, Marty Thompson and Sharon Jo Lightfoot; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends. Services: 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011 Grove Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Grove Hill Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
