

Charlotte Jeanette Holmes, a long time resident of Red Oak, Texas, passed from this life on September 29, 2017, while residing at Legend Oaks in Ennis, Texas. She was born June 25, 1925 in Overton, Texas to the late Charles Wesley McDougal and Lela Adeline (Berry) McDougal.
She graduated from Crozer Tech High School in 1942. During World War II she worked at North American Aviation in Grand Prairie building B51 Mustang fighter planes. After the War she worked for Southern Pacific Railroad in Ontario, California where she met Dean Garnett.
On November 23, 1946 she married the late Dean Garnett in Yuma, Arizona. After his death in 1978, she married the late John “Jake” Samuel Holmes on August 9, 1982 in Prince Frederick, Maryland.
Charlotte Holmes was a member of the First Baptist Church of Red Oak. (Is this right?) She enjoyed reading and gardening. She loved cats.
She is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Janis Holmes, Lela Jane Garnett, both of Red Oak, Texas, Dale Jeanette Couch of Oklahoma. She is also survived by three grand Children, Nathan Couch of Mesa, Arizona, George Anna Bray of St. Jo, Texas and John Benjamin Blissett of Frisco, Texas. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
A private celebration of her life was held by the family.
