Charlotte Carothers Huthnance passed away on May 30, 2019 after an extraordinary, fearless and valiant seven and a half year battle with ovarian cancer. She is survived by her husband Rob Huthnance, and their children, Thompson, C.C. and Georgeann. Also surviving Charlotte are her parents, Jane and David Carothers, her brother Beall Carothers and his wife, Laura-Lucia and their children Campbell and Beall, her brother Carr and his wife Ashley, and their children John Carr and Katherine, Rob’s parents, Ann and Bob Huthnance, his brother, Will Huthnance and his wife, Dinah and their three children Hank, Lucy and Grant.
Charlotte was born in Dallas, Texas on November 28, 1972. She graduated from The Episcopal School of Dallas and received a B.A. in Spanish from The University of Mississippi where she was a member of the Tri Delt sorority. On May 9, 1998, she married Rob, and they began their life together in San Antonio. Soon a business move took them to McAllen, and eventually they settled permanently in Dallas.
Charlotte excelled in amassing friends, raising children, raising puppies, cooking for others, making people smile, cafeteria duty, playing hard, speaking Spanish, cheering for the teams she supported and celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and small victories. She adored time spent outdoors, riding horses, sunsets, Camp Waldemar, The State Fair of Texas, country music and her family. Charlotte created joy everywhere she went. She had the “I’ll have what she’s having” effect.
Charlotte’s bravery, courage and outlook on life left an indelible mark on the hearts of thousands. She never meant to be an example. She never complained. She rarely tired. Her smile was contagious, her laugh was infectious and her sass was unadulterated. Charlotte’s positive attitude, known as Charlitude, never wavered.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Dallas on June 3, 2019 at 3:00 pm. A reception will follow at Dallas Country Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salesmanship Club of Dallas or Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center.
