Cheryl Ann Heatherington, 71, passed away at her home in Dallas on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015 surrounded by her loving family and close friends after a year-long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Paul Heatherington of Dallas and her sons, Paul Heatherington, Jr. and Patrick Heatherington. She was born Sep. 9, 1944 in New Orleans, LA, to Charles G. Burns and Mildred Ansardi Burns. Cheryl was the first of four children by Charles and Mildred Burns, and Cheryl is also survived by her sister Sandra Burns Detter, her sister Phyllis Burns Woodrow, and her brother Charles Burns, Jr. Cheryl graduated Hillcrest High School in Dallas in 1962 and then attended Emporia State University where she met her husband, Paul. After marrying in 1965, they eventually settled in Dallas in 1972 and began a life-long journey in which they built a thriving family business, nurtured and guided their children through school and athletic activities and onto adulthood, all while loving each other with the same passion and devotion that they experienced when they dated in college. Cheryl’s family legacy includes her beloved daughters-in-law, Susan Pike Heatherington and Leslie White Heatherington, and her two grandchildren, William Heatherington and Elizabeth Heatherington, whom she cherished and adored.
