
China Lewis Jr. was the only child born to Velma Hurst Lewis and China Lewis, Sr. However, even though China Jr. was an only child, he didn’t grow up alone, he had many Aunts, Uncles and a whole tribe of cousins that were a part of his life from the beginning until end. He attended public school in the Fort Worth Independent School District and completed his education from United States Job Corp.
He was a high spirited person and an opinionated individual with a mind of his own. He loved his family and was proud to be a Hurst. He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and always carried one in his pocket along with a pen to solve it. He enjoyed writing letters to his family and friends and sending out Christmas and other greeting Cards during the holiday season. His belief was rooted in Christ as he was a member of the Mens 4 Men Christian organization associated with the Bon Air Baptist Church.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories two Aunts Emma Jean Hurst and Juanita Hurst Mackey and an army of cousins and other friends who loved him. He also experienced a special friendship with George Cummings, Troy Cambell and Clara Smith. He had a one of a kind personality and left a lasting impression on those whom he met.
