Christi Janice McMahon, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on October 21, 1973, to Catherine Janice Densmore and Lewis Murrell Elam.
A few years later, Christi welcomed her younger sister, Lesley Catherine Elam, and the two quickly became inseparable. Growing up, Christi was known for her love of baby dolls, especially one particular doll she affectionately called “Big Baby.” Even from a young age, Christi had a nurturing heart and a natural love for caring for others.
Christi shared a very special bond with her grandmother, Beverly Gene Elam, whom she lovingly called Mamaw. That relationship remained a cherished part of her life.
Later, Christi’s parents went their separate ways and both remarried. Through those new chapters in her family, Christi gained her step dad Berwin Price, her little brother Alexander Berwin Price, and a little sister, Taylor Emily Price, as well as a step mom Debbie Elam and two step sisters Hollie and Heather. Christi loved being a big sister and took great pride in looking after her younger siblings. Caring for the people she loved was simply part of who she was.
Christi graduated with the Class of 1992 from Martin High School in Arlington, Texas. After high school, she followed her compassionate nature into a career working with troubled teenage boys in Hinckley, Maine. She had a genuine passion for helping those boys and loved the work she was doing. Her ability to care for others, see the good in people, and make them feel valued was evident throughout her life.
On November 5, 1997, Christi welcomed her first child, a beautiful baby girl, Catherine Reece Elam. Becoming a mother was something Christi was meant for. She was overjoyed and embraced motherhood with her whole heart.
Approximately 17 months after Reece was born, Christi met Chris McMahon, the man she would eventually marry. The two were married on July 14, 2001, and on May 6, 2002, they welcomed their son, Christopher Todd McMahon Jr.
Christi devoted the next 18 years to being a stay-at-home mother. She was the kind of mom who never wanted to miss a moment. She attended every school event, every cheer competition, every baseball game, and countless other milestones. Her children knew that no matter what was happening, Mom would be there. She gave her time, her energy, and her heart completely to her family.
After her marriage ended, Christi returned to work and discovered an interest in private security, a field she worked in for a period of time. Through every season of her life, she continued to find ways to care for and protect the people around her.
Then, on November 21, 2021, Christi experienced another one of life's greatest blessings: she became a grandmother to Lainey Rae Elam. But Christi preferred a very special name—“CeCe.”
From the moment Lainey came into her life, she became the center of Christi’s world. The two were inseparable. They were grandmother and granddaughter, but they were also best friends. Christi treasured every moment with Lainey, and their bond was one of the most beautiful parts of her life.
Toward the end of her life, Christi was essentially a full-time CeCe. She picked Lainey up from school, cared for her while Reece worked full time, and spent her days loving, nurturing, and making memories with her granddaughter. Lainey was her joy, her little best friend, and a tremendous piece of her heart.
Christi was beautiful, loving, caring, selfless, and kind. She had an extraordinary ability to make people feel comfortable and loved. Even if she had never met you before, Christi could talk to you as though she had known you for years. She welcomed people with an open heart and never made anyone feel like a stranger.
Her life was defined by the love she gave to others. She was a woman who showed up, who cared deeply, who gave selflessly, and who loved her family with everything she had.
Christi will be deeply missed by her children, granddaughter, siblings, family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. The emptiness left by her passing can never truly be filled, but the love she gave will continue through the lives of the people she touched.
Her memory will live on in every story told, every photograph cherished, every lesson remembered, and every moment her family carries her love forward.
Christi Janice McMahon will never be forgotten.
She will forever remain in our hearts—
our beautiful CeCe, our loving mother, our cherished daughter, our beloved sister, our best friend, and our rockstar.
Heaven gained a beautiful angel.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts.
