Christine Cresencia Castillo passed away peacefully on the afternoon of February 9, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born on May 5, 1930, in Dallas, TX, to the late Juan Alonzo Flores and Maria Senada Rodarte. Christine was a woman of unwavering faith, strength, and devotion to family.
As the eldest daughter, Christine held a deep love for her parents and siblings. She treasured memories of her father, Juan Flores, and shared a heartfelt bond with her sisters, Otelia (Lopez) and Clara (Garza), as well as her brothers, Raymond, Gumecindo, Edward, Richard, and Johnny Flores.
On June 24, 1956, she married her dear husband, Ramon G. Castillo, and together they shared 54 beautiful years before his passing in 2011. Their marriage was full of unforgettable memories – raising their four children, a 25th anniversary trip to Hawaii, late night card games with close friends, hosting the whole family on holidays, and countless more.
Christine had an undeniable spirit, guided by her faith in God, which gave her peace in hardship and joy in the good times. She worked hard as a hairdresser, a career that she took great pride in and truly enjoyed. But above all, her greatest joy was her family. She played a vital role in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nurturing and shaping them with endless love. Babies held a special place in her heart, and she embraced every moment with them, whether in her own family or through her work at the church daycare.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ramon G. Castillo, and her dear daughter, Guadalupe “Lita” Castillo. She is survived by her loving children: Carolyn Hernandez and her husband Roy, Raymond Castillo and his wife Virginia, and Christine Zalghout and her husband Haidar.
She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren: Lucinda Martinez, Carlos Martinez and his fiancée Lauren, Teresa Elyse Rubio, Marissa Castillo, Saul Lopez and his wife Sarah, and Sara Zalghout and her husband Ali. Her great-grandchildren—Narissa Martinez, Gabriel Martinez, Isaac Martinez, Isabella Hurtado, Caylee Castro, Lorraine Lopez, Ezra Rubio, and Abraham Lopez—brought her immense joy, and she treasured every moment with them.
Christine is also survived by her beloved brothers, Edward Flores, Richard Flores, and Johnny Flores.
Her love and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She leaves behind an irreplaceable void, but her legacy of resilience will forever influence those she loved.
She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
We love you, Mom, Grandma, Gigi, Sister, and Tia.
