Christine E. Howard

Christie Howard, 34, of Dallas,Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 23, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Her fond memory will forever live in the hearts of her family, coworkers and friends that all knew and loved her.

Christie was born on February 20, 1978 in Dallas, Texas to Pat and Susan Howard. Throughout her life, Christie demonstrated a courageous spirit, fun-loving personality, exceptional grace and strong determination. She graduated from Ursuline Academy in Dallas in 1996. After high school, Christie attended Emory University and earned a degree in Economics and Math. While at Emory, Christie was an integral player on the women’s basketball team. She served as Captain of the team for two years and received recognitions including the Coach’s Award and Emory McDonough Award. After graduation, Christie pursued her passion for athletics in her career life. She thrived in positions at Madison Square Garden, the New York Liberty and the Women’s National Basketball Association. Most recently, Christie served as the Director of Business Development with Ladies Professional Golf Association.

In her personal time, Christie loved being active and completed the New York Marathon three times. She had a deep love for all animals, especially her dog Jazz. She had wonderful friends she loved tremendously. All who knew her admired her positive energy and infectious smile.

She is survived by her parents, Pat and Susan Howard; her sister, Debbie Munir and her husband Michael; her nephew and niece, Ethan and Sarah Munir; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 12521 Inwood Road, Dallas, TX 75244. A Prayer Service will be at 7:00 pm on Monday, July 30, 2012 in the Chapel at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy., Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in Christie Howard’s memory to the National Brain Tumor Society, 124 Watertown Street, Suite 2D, Watertown, MA 02472.
