Born in Dallas, Texas, on April 30, 1955, Christine was the youngest of four siblings. Family was very important to Christine and she dearly loved and admired her brother, Jimmy, her sisters, Julia and Rosemary, and her parents, Steve and Rose Klimek.
Christine had many interests that she happily shared with friends and family. One of her passions was gardening – her back yard was often compared to a page out of House and Garden. And when she wasn’t working outside, she would be indoors cooking some of her favorite dishes such as stuffed grape leaves or chicken and dumplings. Christine also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys play – win or lose, listening to music, and going to hear Domingo sing her favorite Elvis songs.
For years, she volunteered at the nursing home where her sister Julia had earlier resided. She was truly the “Queen of Bingo”. The residents looked forward to every Sunday when she would show up with her Bingo prizes to make their afternoon both special and enjoyable. What they didn’t know was that she and her sister, Rosemary, would continuously go to garage sales to search out the perfect prizes for their nursing home buddies, and always had a trunk full of stuffed animals which the residents could choose from! Christine believed that we were on this Earth to help others, to give back what we could, and as often as possible.
Her love of animals was something that everyone admired. She never turned away a stray cat and even gave names to some of the squirrels in her back yard – especially the ones that would come eat out of her hand. She loved birds, bunnies, possums, dogs, cats, and all the rest of God’s creatures.
Many people remember when Christine and her family would host their annual Halloween party which was the talk of Lakewood. Christine would design and create the “monsters” that surrounded her house and kids from everywhere looked forward to being scared silly each year. It became such a popular tradition that her last Halloween get-together brought over 500 trick or treaters!
Christine was generous, loyal, and always wanted to help those in need. Probably what everyone admired most about her was undoubtedly her faith in God. When asked recently if she was afraid to be alone during these last few months, her response was, “I’m not alone; Jesus is with me.” She will always be remembered as being a true Christian who lived and practiced her faith on a daily basis.
Christine is preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Rose Klimek, her brother, Jimmy Klimek, her sisters, Julia and Rosemary, and her best friend, Donna Harris. Christine is survived by numerous friends and cousins, all who will miss her dearly.
Graveside service will be held at 10am August 26, 2024 at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
