Chris is survived by his wife Camille and children Zach, fiancée Savannah and grandson Christopher, and Katie, husband Billy and grandchildren River and Kirra. He is also survived by his sisters Carol Reeder and Margaret Vonder Hoya and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Frances Smith Bright, father, Harvey Roberts Bright and brother, Clay Bright.
Chris grew up in Dallas and first graduated from Highland Park High School in 1971 and later the University of Dallas in 1978. He spent years pursuing different passions before eventually settling in to work at the family business. Chris had a brilliant mind in general ,but he was a visionary when it came to business and his achievements in this regard were countless. His tireless work on his many projects and creations were the passion of his life. Although his accomplishments are far too many to list, his vision and work in the creation of the Castle Hills community must be noted. He loved this community deeply. He also cared very much for all of his employees and work family.
Chris was a legend both in his own mind and in reality. To those who knew him he was not a mere human, but a force to be reckoned with. He was tough, but he was fair and he always strove to treat people decently. He had a way of bringing out the very best in the people around him and helping others to see the potential within themselves. Chris loved driving fast cars, playing golf, celebrating Christmas, listening to music, reading and talking about philosophy and politics, but most of all he loved his children and family. He was fierce in his loyalty to his family and he always made sure that his children and grandchildren knew how much he loved them and how important they were to him.
Chris was incredibly altruistic and he contributed greatly to a wide variety of different philanthropic causes. He served on various charitable boards and foundations and always emphasized the importance of giving back.
To those fortunate enough to be in his life ,Chris was a real life super hero. He was sacrificial in his love for his family. He was also charming and clever and funny and handsome. To his family he will forever be the ideal to which we aspire. He was the sun of our world. He took care of everyone around him and carried the weight of the world on his shoulders. While his family are comforted that he is now resting peacefully ,we are heartbroken and will never stop missing him.
There will be a service followed by a reception Wednesday, July 20, 2022, 10:00 am, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, followed by a private burial.
