He was born on August 7, 1935, to Wesley Henry George and Ruth Marie George. On December 20, 1963, he married the love of his life, Carole Ann Staples, and together they built a life centered on family, devotion, and shared adventures. He was a proud father to three children: Mark, Carl, and Claudia.
Claud was a mechanical engineer whose work helped shape the skyline of Dallas. He took great pride in his profession and the lasting impact of his contributions. After retirement, he continued to do what he loved most; building, creating, and tinkering, often spending time working on projects or maintaining his motorhome.
He and Carole traveled in their motorhome for many years, forming lasting friendships and creating cherished memories along the way. In his later years, nothing brought him more joy than his grandchildren, who were truly the love of his life.
Claud will be remembered for his generous heart and the way he showed up for the people he loved, no questions asked. He made everyone feel like they could call him any time, day or night, and he would be there, even if it meant “kicking a tire at two in the morning,” as he would often say. He was nurturing, compassionate, and endlessly supportive, with a way of making even ordinary moments feel worth remembering. Often with a camera in hand, he captured the life happening around him, preserving those memories for years to come.
Whether offering advice and insight or simply lending an ear, Claud had a gift for making others feel heard and cared for. He excelled in problem-solving and took joy in putting pen to paper sketching plans, drawing ideas, and finding solutions with both his mind and his hands.
Claud had a gentle and caring spirit, especially evident in his love for animals, who thrived under his care. He was a devoted husband, faithfully by Carole’s side throughout their many years together. He gave freely of his time and energy to those he loved, often joking about his “windshield and butt time” as he patiently waited wherever he was needed. His presence brought comfort, steadiness, and a sense that everything would be okay. He loved the Lord and took joy in praying for those he loved.
He leaves behind his daughter, Claudia Kuntz, and son-in-law, Pat Kuntz; his son, Carl Womble; and his beloved grandchildren, Zachary Kuntz and Erica Kuntz. He is also survived by his niece, Louann Gardner, and nephew, Al Fawcett, along with many extended family members who will cherish his memory. He also leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, photographs, and the unmistakable feeling that, whenever he was there, everyone was taken care of.
Claud was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Henry George and Ruth Marie George, and Mark Lynch.
Claud will be laid to rest at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas.
