Claudia is survived by her five daughters, Stephanie Elrod, Christine Helget, Deborah Helget, Robin Jones, and Rebecca Helget; son, Mathew Helget; grandchildren, Jessica and Amanda Elrod, Lindsey Bechard, Cameron Slaney, Ronnie and Kenny Helget, Michael and Ashley Jones, Alex Helget, Joshua Helget, Pam Helget and Bret Strubberg; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Jones, Liam and Emily Bechard, and Austin Rich; siblings Carolyn Shook, Cathy Hatcher, Kenneth Parent, Jr., Frank King, Charles Parent, Celeste Harris, and Karla Metz. She is preceded in death by her son, John Helget, her parents, Kenneth Parent, Sr. and Rosanna Delhommer Parent, and her brother, Clarence Parent.
Claudia was born on August 30, 1944 in Dutchtown, Louisiana. She grew up in Dutchtown and Prairieville, Louisiana and graduated from Dutchtown high school. She married Robert Helget, Jr. February 8, 1964 and soon began to build her family. Claudia and her growing family relocated to Dallas, Texas in the early 1970’s where she raised her seven children and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Claudia was an avid gardener and a fiercely competitive tennis player. She was the president of the Poise’N Ivy Garden Club of Dallas, Texas. She took great joy from competing in various tennis tournaments, recently placing second for women's doubles in the 2018 Texas Senior Games in San Antonio, Texas.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a rosary service from 7:00 pm until 7:30 pm. The funeral mass will take place at St. Pius X Catholic Parish Friday, August 10, 2018 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with the committal service following at Sacred Heart Cemetery at 12:00 pm until 12:30 pm. A reception service will follow immediately after at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home where all are welcome to join Claudia’s family in celebrating her life.
