Barton Williams of Long Beach, California, died Thursday, November 10 at his residence after a long illness. Bart was born January 25, 1941, in Sweetwater, the son of Maryemma and Clayton Williams. His grandparents were Emma and Robert M. Simmons, and his beloved aunt was Bettie Patton, who died in November 2015—all of Sweetwater. He is survived by his brother Robert, and sister Marialice Garrett, her husband Randy and niece and nephew Alissa and Chase Garrett and his wife Kate, all of Dallas, and his special cousin Carroll Matthews, and her son Miller and his wife Elizabeth, of Corpus Christi. Bart graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1959, and from the University of Notre Dame in 1963. He had lived in California since 1963, and in Long Beach since 1990. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel in Dallas on Saturday, November 19th, with interment there. He is also survived by his devoted caregivers and to them his family expresses their deep appreciation. Bart was a great lover of the theatre, any desired contributions should be to the Sweetwater Municipal Auditorium.
