Cody began his journey on September 5, 1968 in Evanston, Illinois. He was born to Diane Witt (nee Holman) and Nathan J. Shorter. He spent his childhood on the sunny Southside of Chicago, where he attended St. Dorothy Elementary School and graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 1986. He went on to study at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
After completing his service in the United States Army, Cody found the warmer weather of the south calling. He joined his mother and brother in the Dallas, Texas area. However, this move did not dim his enthusiasm for his hometown teams: the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks and White Sox.
Family was extremely important to Cody and he made sure to keep his loved ones close. He was exceptionally organized, and that served him well in his career where he found his greatest success training others in the systems, software, maintenance and repair of ATMs. Cody also found great joy in music and was especially a fan of Prince.
Cody departed this life on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 after a brief battle with cancer. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Diane, his brothers, Walter, Adam, Daryl and Jonathan; and his stepfather, Walter Witt, Jr. and his only nephew, Myles. Also missing his warmth are his aunts; Elaine, Kat and Mary; uncles; Brian and Alan; and best friends Eric and Jamil, as well as, numerous cousins and friends.
