March 9, 1931 – October 23, 2026
Connie Winnie Smegner, affectionately known as Winnie to her family and lovingly called Mom and Grandma, passed away on October 23, 2026, at the age of 95.
Born on March 9, 1931, in Wills Point, Texas, Connie spent her life in the Dallas area, making her home in several communities throughout the years. Most recently, she resided in Plano, Texas. Her life was rooted in faith, family, hard work, and love.
Connie was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who dedicated her life to caring for and providing for her family. Her generous spirit and warm personality touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was deeply loved, and the many lives she touched are a testament to the special person she was.
Connie shared 60 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Glenn Otis Smegner, until his passing in 2009. Their life together was built on love and commitment, and Glenn’s devotion and care for Connie throughout their marriage were a beautiful reflection of the bond they shared.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially being involved in her church, working in her yard, and tending to her flowers. She appreciated the beauty of nature and found happiness in nurturing the things around her.
A lifelong Christian, Connie’s faith was a guiding part of her life. She leaves behind an example of perseverance, devotion, and steadfast faith.
Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn Otis Smegner, and her son, Glenn Keith Smegner.
She is survived by her brother, Roy; her four grandchildren, Christy, Michael, Connie, and Johnathan; and nine great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward for generations to come.
Though her absence will be deeply felt by all who loved her, her family finds comfort in knowing that she has been called home to the Lord and reunited with her beloved husband and son. The faith she carried throughout her life now gives way to the promise of eternity, and the love she shared will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
