Consuelo (Chelo) Gutierrez joined her husband and the love of her life, Herbert (Beto), in heaven on February 20, 2019. Beto preceded her in death by 28 years and has been waiting a long time for her to join him.
Chelo, affectionately known to her family as “Grandma”, was born on July 11, 1920. Beto and Chelo were married for 44 years and had a wonderful life together, raising four children and then taking care of the grandkids after they got out of school. Grandma was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and her family will miss her greatly.
She is survived by two daughters, Sylvia G. Alcantar, Irene Cortinas (George) and two sons, Herbert S. Gutierrez, Jr., and Stephen G. Gutierrez (Kay) as well as 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, 1 brother and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by a Rosary with a Funeral Service at 12:00 pm on Sunday, February 24, at Sparkman Hillcrest on Northwest Highway, followed by burial next to her beloved husband, Beto. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Parsons House Preston Hollow for their loving care over the last couple of years.
