Consuelo “Connie” Hernandez, age 80, passed away on October 21, 2020 in Dallas, Tx. She was born on August 20, 1940 in Calvert, Tx to Jose Ruiz and Agapita Rincon. Connie moved to Dallas at the age of 15. She married Roy Hernandez in 1961 and the couple had three children: Roy Jr., Paul and Anna Marie. Throughout the years, she was variously employed until owning her own business, Consuelo’s Dress Shop, on Henderson Ave. The shop remained open for more than 15 years until her retirement. Thereafter, she spent her days at her husband, Roy’s, barbershop visiting with all the customers and keeping an eye on Roy.
Connie enjoyed being with her family and watching her grandchildren grow up. She enjoyed shopping and never seemed to miss a sale at Macy’s or Dillard’s. She was a true Texas Rangers fan and always looked forward to watching them play on TV every season. She was known for her great cooking, but also enjoyed eating out. She could often be seen eating at El Taquito Café with Roy. Most of all, she enjoyed going to the casino and playing the slot machines.
Her family and friends will always remember her as a beautiful lady with an equally beautiful smile. She was always well dressed and always had her make-up and nails done. She took great care of her husband and family and loved them very much. She will be greatly missed by everyone.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jose Ruiz and Agapita Rincon, her younger sister Vicenta Salazar and younger brother Jorge Ruiz.
