(JUNE 3RD, 1960 – MARCH 27, 2020)
A few times in our uncertain journeys in life, we meet someone that inadvertently shows a snippet of true kindness, genuine love and care, not realizing how much profound effect her gestures would have on the hearts and lives of those she touched. That's the kind of impact Mrs. Cordelia Onaiwu Egbe had on those she was privileged a chance meet in life. Sister Cordy, as most of us, dearest to her beloved personality, called her, showed and showered her friends, family and everyday people with devotion, dedication, attention, love and humility, up to her last active day.
Cordelia Onaiwu was born in the ancient Kingdom of Benin City, in the now Edo State of Nigeria on June 3, 1960, to Mrs. Angelina Njoabuzi Onwaeze. At her naming ceremony, little Cordelia was blessed with the presence of the Kingdom’s Royalty as the then Oba of Benin was present to name her ONAIWU.
After a successful secondary education, she married her childhood sweetheart, Martin Uche Egbe. She moved to the United States to join her husband and to continue with her university education. Cordelia received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the California State University in Los Angeles.
Her personality traits and unusual charming characteristics were the cheers of her jokes and the subtleness of the way she envisioned a life for all. Cordelia was also a firm believer that the gateway to a successful lifestyle is education and selfless service to the community. Towards these principles, counseled troubled youths, dedicated her social works to nonprofit organizations that helped troubled youths. She also worked for the Dallas Catholic Diocese. Cordelia Egbe was a strong, loving, caring, devoted, gentle mother, wife, and friend. She loved her family and was deeply devoted to her daughter, Egoamaka Stephanie and her husband Martin Uche Egbe.
Cordelia Onaiwu Egbe completed her circles of life in Irving Texas, on March 27th, after a brief illness.. She is survived by her daughter, Egoamaka Stephanie Egbe.
