Cory Lebrandt Simmons was born on January 7, 1978, in Dallas, Texas, to Percy Levon Simmons and Annie Loyce Simmons. He was raised in Dallas, where he attended South Oak Cliff High School. In his younger years, Cory was baptized and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, a foundation that remained with him throughout his life. He was a member of Griggs Chapel Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.
Among his fondest memories was making trips out to the country to visit his grandparents while they were living. Those visits were a source of joy and comfort, and the kind of simple pleasures he carried with him long after.
Cory was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Loyce Simmons; his father, Percy Levon Simmons; and his brother, Courtney Devon Simmons.
He leaves to mourn his passing his brothers, Percy Simmons Jr. and Anthony Glen Simmons; his sister, Lavonia Simmons Alexander; and a host of other relatives and friends whose lives were touched by his.
Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
2 Timothy 4:6–8 (The Finished Race)
"For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing."
