Obituary
Dale H. Huse, architect, artist and beer connoisseur — a man who loved
life and his family and was affectionately known to his grandchildren as
Jampa.
Dale was born to Herman and Edna Huse on January 1, 1950. His sister is
Cynthia Huse. Dale was baptized on February 5, 1950 at Grace Lutheran
Church in South Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas. He attended Grace Lutheran
School, Boude Story Middle School and South Oak Cliff High School and
then attended Navarro Junior College. After a year and half he decided he
was not yet ready for college and being young he waited for career
inspiration, which directed him to The University of Texas at Arlington,
School of Architecture. Dale graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of
Science in Architecture and in 1982 with a Master of Architecture degree.
While working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, Dale met Caryn Bucko in
1982, who was blessed with a son Josh, whom he adopted. Josh is
married to Heather Thurston and they have three children — Jaxson,
Sophia and Jonah.
After completing his degrees, Dale worked for the Dallas firm, The
Architects Partnership (TAP), which espoused the teachings of Frank Lloyd
Wright. These, along with the creative sensibilities of TAP, served as the
inspiration to guide him to design and build his family’s home in Cedar Hill,
Texas. He had invaluable help from many, particularly their friend and
dentist, David Malone, and his father-in-law John Bucko.
Upon completion of their residence, Dale designed many schools
throughout Texas. He was then recruited by the Garland Independent
School District to work with teachers and other design professionals to
enlarge their campuses. Dale retired from Garland I.S.D. in 2016.
Dale and Caryn travelled extensively in Europe with her sister, Alicia
Bucko, and brother-in-law, Eduardo Tschen.
