Daniel Joseph Dillingham, age 38, was born January 9, 1975 in Patuxent River, Maryland to Joe Glenn and Mary Carol Dillingham. Since his father was career Navy, he was raised in several different locations—Corpus Christi TX, Memphis TN, Dallas TX, finally settling in Stillwater OK for his teen years. He was active in baseball in high school as a “lefty” pitcher and first baseman, and remained a passionate baseball fan the rest of his life, supporting OSU and the Texas Rangers. Dan was a Coast Guard Veteran, serving in Alaska and Key West. Dan’s other passion was fitness. He ran the Oklahoma City Marathon, and was currently training for IRONMAN Texas in Houston. He most recently resided in Dallas TX where he graduated from Richland College, achieving membership in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. He currently was employed as a Supervisor for DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit). He enjoyed playing bass and guitar, and most of all, spending time with his wife and soulmate, Cristy, whom he married on May 2, 2008. His dream was to make a home in the country outside Dallas for the two of them. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernest and Blanche Huff and Glenn and Emmadean Dillingham. He is survived by his wife, Cristy Dillingham, his parents, Joe and Mary Dillingham, his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jo and Bryan Durant, and his nephews, Jacob and Benjamin Durant. He is deeply missed by all of them. He will be remembered at a funeral service in Dallas at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, and a funeral service in Stillwater at First Presbyterian Church at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12. Dan will be laid to rest at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater.

To all of Dan's wonderful friends who shared memories of him--thank you so much. You have no idea how much your thoughts of our son mean to us. We do so appreciate your sharing. When we think of him (which is most of the time) we also think of you and wish all of you the very best.

It is strange how our minds work and what can trigger different memories and thoughts. Before March 5, 2013, I would come out of the parking garage downtown right across the street from DART. I would have a brief happy thought of you and Cristy. I would think I wonder how they are. I need to call. After March 5, 2013 I would think OMG I will never see big Dan behind the wheel of a DART bus. Even though he was now in a supervisory capacity there could still be a slight chance I would see him. Now I know you will not be driving a DART bus but I still look. It has almost been a year and you are still missed. Especially, by beautiful Cristy and your Mom & Dad. Every day I pray that it hurts a little less for them.

My love, my soulmate. I miss you dearly. Every day without you is more surreal than the next. We'll be together again. I love you so much.

I am so sorry for the loss. I, like Tony, served with Dan on the Mohawk. Like Tony, nothing but good memories. Dan had a unique spirit and you couldn't dislike him if you tried. I'm tearing up.

I Served with Daniel In the US Coast Guard , Coast Guard Cutter Mohawk ( WMEC-913) in Key West Florida as Fire Control Technicians. This is a tremendous shock for me and I am sorry for the loss of Daniel. If a Family member wants to contact me, please do so. I had nothing but good memories with Daniel during my Time on the Mohawk.

My heart goes out to your family! I haven't seen Danny since high school, and with our reunion coming up, our class is remembering him dearly!
I've suffered the loss of a spouse myself, there are just no words. I pray God wraps his comforting arms around you and all who knew him, to help you in this time of loss.

My last talk with Dan was that Monday after the Super Bowl. We talked about him returning to school after the Iron Man Event. I promised him new drum sticks at graduation. I gave my friend his drum sticks on Sunday, March 10, 2013. I hear you Dan.

Cristy and Family -

Tim and I were sad to hear the news about Dan.

We still remember when he proposed and your wedding. Your small intimate wedding inspired ours. It was so apparent how close you two were and I'm hoping those good times and wonderful memories will bring you comfort in the days and months ahead.

He will be remembered as a wonderful person! RIP Dan

Thinking of you and sending our deepest sympathy and prayers,

Donna Vickers
