Darlene Sands Warnack, 86, of Dallas Texas passed away after a short but brave battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughter Barbara and Peter Franklin, grandson Daniel and Tina Merritt and grandson David and Mandie Franklin, great grandchildren Matthew Merritt and Alyssa Franklin, sister Verna Kraft, and her extended family Werner and Becky Rindfleisch. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bob Sands, and her second husband, Kenneth Warnack.
Darlene always said that “making memories” is what life is all about. Her family benefited greatly from this belief and they all have many wonderful memories to keep in their hearts forever. She truly was one of a kind and all that knew her would agree that she was ready at a moment’s notice to make the next memory.
Darlene was a long-time member of Schreiber United Methodist Church in North Dallas. She was strong in her faith and took life as it came; benefitting greatly from her friends at church. Her Sunday School Class members were very important to her. She supported them as much as they did her. She was an integral part of her Sunday School Aldersgate Class and the “SOS, Seniors of Schreiber” monthly luncheon group for many years. She volunteered in many other activities at church, but the SOS group was her family of friends and she wanted to make sure it continued throughout the years.
Darlene was happiest when she was cooking for others. Whether it was cooking for a party at her house or baking for her many friends, she was in her element in the kitchen. Everyone that sampled her food knew that it was cooked with love and appreciated that she shared it with them.
A Memorial Service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 2807 Valwood Parkway, Farmers Branch, Texas on February 13th, 2019 at 1:30 PM. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association (vnatexas.org/give) which is a charity that Darlene chose to support throughout the years.
