

David R. Duckworth, 46, of Dallas, Texas, died Monday after suffering a heart attack last Thursday. David is survived by his wife, Denise, and their two sons, Riley and Garrett; his mother, Judy Barnett; his brother and sister-in-law, Kelly and Cody Barnett all of Oklahoma City; his sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Michael George of Scarsdale, New York; his sister-in-law, Shelli Thomas of Edmond, Oklahoma; his father and step-mother Suzie and Rod Duckworth and half-brothers Rodney and Michael Duckworth all of Virginia Beach, Virginia and many other relatives and friends from across the country. He was preceded in death by his dad, Dallas C. Barnett. David was born January 26, 1960, in Twenty-nine Palms, California. He spent his childhood in Oklahoma City and attended OU earning a BBA in 1983 and then completing his JD in 1988 at the OU College of Law. David began his oil and gas law practice in 1988 and was a member of the Texas and Oklahoma Bar Associations. David was an oil and gas title lawyer and loved his job. He was a talented businessman and entrepreneur. David had numerous professional associations most notably as a member of the State Bar of Texas Title Standards Joint Editorial Board. David was a member at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister and an usher. David enjoyed numerous leisure activities including coaching his boys in soccer, baseball and football. He owned the Triangle D Ranch in Bosque County which had become his passion. He raised Angus cattle and was starting a game ranch. He hunted hogs with zeal. David was well-traveled and well-read on a variety of topics including the Civil War, theology, and ancient history. David was enthusiastic, quick-witted and plain spoken. Many people were touched by his generosity and caring. David was a family man and will be sorely missed. He was a faithful Christian and was called home. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 14 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 11122 Midway Road, Dallas.
