Adventurous, brave, hard-working, and wise, David will be remembered for the steady strength he brought to his family and the conviction with which he lived his life. Those who knew David will miss his very big smile and big hugs.
David was in R.O.T.C. and played football at North Dallas High School.
David retired from the City of Dallas as a maintenance electrical supervisor. He was a longtime member of the NRA and received a special pin from the Republican Party when former President George W. Bush was in office for overseeing the electricity at the Republican convention. Over the years, David also worked at Neiman Marcus, the Statler Hotel in Dallas, and for Dallas County UT Southwestern Forensics.
David was a devoted family man. David is survived by sons Gabriel Gutierrez, David Gutierrez Jr, and Jonathan Gutierrez Sr; daughters Stephanie Rene Gutierrez and Leah Marie Olguin; brothers Roman Gutierrez Jr. and Richard Gutierrez; sister Jeannie Anguiano; father Roman Gutierrez Sr; mother Juanita Moreno Gutierrez; grandchildren Aisha Maryan, Julissa, Nataly, Sebastian, Monique, Ysmael, Addilyn, Jonathan, Matthew, Isaac, Felicity, Elijah, and Rene; and great-grandson Azreal.
David was an avid big game hunter—black powder, rifle, and bow—and he took pride in the many collections of his game. He was also a collector of Franklin meant for his children, and a collector of guns.
David was a member of Iglesia Bautista Monte Los Olivos since 1979 and served as a deacon for many years. He traveled to many states to visit missionaries, particularly in Mexico.
David will be remembered for his faith, his love for his children, his hunting skills, and for being a good provider who made sure his family’s necessities were meant. His fight for life, his fedora hat and cowboy hats, and his love for the Dallas Cowboys will remain vivid in the hearts of those who loved him.
