David Melchor Largaespada, beloved son of Jose Orlando and Myriam Aguilar Largaespada, was born on January 6, 1959 at Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, California. At the age of five, David and his family moved to Managua, Nicaragua. On December 23, 1972 a 6.2 magnitude earthquake left Largaespada’s hometown with more than 10,000 dead and 250,000 homeless. In that moment David and two of his brothers (Roger and George) made the choice to go back to the United States. David started his high school years at Alhambra High School and was involved in afterschool sports, but excelled at Track and Field. However, he was missing his parents and other siblings and decided to return to Managua, Nicaragua. Shortly after David’s return another tragedy happens, the Civil War. It was then that the Largaespada Family returned back to the states indefinitely. David attended Los Angeles Trade Tech College, and started his career at Savin Corp. as a copier assembler and eventually moved as a Field Technician.
February of 1987, David proposed to Nila Martinez, and she accepted his proposal. Thus, on the afternoon of October 10, 1987, they were married at the Moravian Church of Downey, California. David was determined to fulfill a dream as business owner and open his business on September 1996; Rapid Copier Sales and Repair.
David was a true San Francisco 49’ers fan at heart. He lived through his music and will challenge anyone to karaoke with him. He wholeheartedly cherished his big family, in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews and staying connected with his friends. David will be remembered as an excellent cook and practical joker with a sense of humor that kept everyone smiling, but what will be missed most is his genuine, selfless and thoughtful personality who touched so many lives.
After a valiant fight of several years against congestive heart failure, David succumbed on February 7 at 7:04 p.m. in the comfort of his home and with his family at his side in Rowlett, Texas.
