He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Connie Mahmood, his daughters Alyce Bredehoeft, Angel Rivera, Christina Mahmood, and his siblings Sheila Lindstrom and her husband John, Kenneth Mahmood and Dennis Mahmood and his wife Penny.

He is preceded in death by his son, David Joseph Mahmood Jr. and his brother Daniel Mahmood.

David attended high school at Cretin Military Academy and St. Thomas College in St. Paul. David's business career spanned over five decades. His corporate career was spent in marketing and industrial engineering positions at Stancraft Products, and the largest specialty advertising company, Brown & Bigelow, where he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing. David was a self professed "serial entrepreneur"; he started eight companies from scratch in a wide variety of industries and products. David's final legacy is Allegiance Capital Corporation, a Dallas based boutique investment bank. David founded Allegiance Capital with Connie by his side in 1998.

David's enduring influence and mentorship was integral in launching the careers of many investment banking professionals. He has served on numerous boards and industry groups and has received many honors, most recently as one of the "Top 500 Most Powerful Business Leaders in Dallas."

I have been trying for the past couple of days to come up with words to express the respect and gratitude that I feel for David Mahmood and I keep coming up short. There really are no words that can express the deep gratitude and appreciation I have for the experience of knowing and becoming friends withthe Mahmood family.
I have known the family since our daughters were together in grade school . Some 20+ years now. . During those years my family was the recipient of many of David‘s extreme kindnesses. We had the privilege of being together for many wonderful experiences with the family and have wonderful memories from those times together. Sitting listening to David talk was one of my favorite things to do. He was an amazing man and he will be missed but I will hold memories of him in my heart forever.
Love and prayers to all the family,
Elizabeth Bell

I shared this memory with Angel so thought I would share with everyone. I met David through Angel & Jason's infamous BBQ's. David was always there telling outrageous stories about his amazing life. I just remember the sparkle in his eye when he was telling a story about something in his past and from what I remember the stories were generally around women, money/business and sports. He was a great story teller!!

I am so sad for your loss.

David truly changed my life for the better. After a considerable roller business career, living in Tulsa for most of my adult life it was suggested I meet David. I met David in April of 2001 coming off a major loss in business. I knew a great deal about corporate finance but little about how to market and sell a business. Through his guidance and friendship he taught me well. By 2004 I was making more money than I had in my entire career. By 2007 I was debt free, except for my home, with money in the bank. I can honestly say that my years with David were the most rewarding of my career. Not for the money but the deep friendship we developed and the other relationships I gained during my time there. I am sure my Son Jeff was waiting for you David at the Pearly Gates. God Bless your soul, I shall forever be grateful for all the kindness you showed me and all the lessons I learned. You gave so much to all. Not a day goes by that I don't remember something you said or taught me.

Thank you old Friend,

Dan Flick
