David was raised in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Bishop Dunne in 1967. He served corporal in Vietnam for five years. He was a mail carrier at the United States Postal Service where he worked for more than eighteen years.
He married Carolina Mena in 1983 and the couple had three children. In his spare time David enjoyed golfing with friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Aurelio Mena; mother, Mary Mena and son, Salvador Gaitan.
He is survived by his wife, Carolina Mena; son, David Mena; daughter, Valerie Vasquez; grandchildren, Alexis Vasquez, Alexis Gaitan, Natalie Zuniga, Emily Mena, Liliana Mena, Serenity Vasquez and Ezra Vasquez.
