There has been an enormous void in my life for the past year. You are missed my dear friend.

At the time, I was living and working in Orange County, CA.  I heard through the grapevine that a Chuy's was going to open in nearby Tustin.  For those that have ties to Austin and the University of Texas, this was a big deal for a displaced Texan.  I had been on the West coast for so long, I could not wait to get a taste of a hometown favorite.  Shortly after it opened, my wife and I made a Chuy's run.  Great food, tasty margaritas, sorta felt like home.   I looked around the restaurant and spotted a face I knew well.  I could not believe it.  What were the odds?  I walked up to Brent's table and was met with a warm smile.  We picked up right where we left off at UT.

Brent will be missed.  Know that he is loved by many.  My prayers are with you.           

Brent came to visit us for a ski trip in France, December 2017.  I had not seen him in many years...what an great time we had together.  His wit, charm, and intensity had not diminished one bit.   Wish I could hang out with him again...

What a tremendous and tragic loss for us all. He was a kind soul and was very loyal to his friends. 

Brent- "Hey Thurston, would you please tell Tom Brady to retire so that the Cowboys have a chance to win".  Brent was a treasured client of mine at the Irvine Sports Club back around the year 2000 or so.  Always arrived with a witty remark.  I learned a lot about coins from Brent.  Brent enjoyed exercise and staying fit.  He joined us for surfing trips to San Onofre and loved it.  One noticeable thing about Brent was that he showed a deep respect for others.  He may not have showed it all the time, but I know he had it.  May he RIP and I'm sorry for his family.
