

He moved to Dallas, TX as a small child. He attended and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School. He was employed at the Dallas Morning News for years, Parkland Hospital and worked as a maintenance repair man for many years.
He accepted Christ at an early age even though he didn’t have a church home, he did accept Christ as his Lord and Savior. On August 11th, 2020, David was called home to be with the Lord. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lula Mae Shelby.
He leaves to cherish his memories, Father: Horace Shelby, Jr., Sons: DWayland Dean (Khushbo) and Carlos Hammond; Sister: Barbara Ross (Roy); Brothers: Danny Shelby, Carl Shelby, Andrew Shelby, and Marcus Shelby; Grandchildren: Llailah Dean and DWayland Dean II; Nieces: Tumeka Shelby, CuTina Shelby, Semetria Woodard (Eric); Nephews: Travis Shelby (Falonda) and Derrick Hill (Marshana); Aunts: Laura Hall (Thomas), Erma Taylor (Terry), Gladys McDonald, Pearlie Bailey, and Jewline Mays; Uncle: Curley Shelby and a host of great nieces , nephews, cousins, family and friends.
