Deborah Nickerson Bane was born November 1, 1949 in Dallas, Texas. In the company of her family, Debbie passed peacefully on February 8, 2024. She graduated from Bryan Adams High School and earned her degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas. Debbie married the love of her life John David Bane on February 17, 1979.
She was active in church and school matters, was on a national award winning advancement team, worked with the Dallas Rape Crisis Center, owned a plant leasing business for years, and for 16 years Debbie worked as a bookkeeper at Dallas Council 799, Knights of Columbus (she loved those guys)!
Debbie’s award winning cross stitch artwork is legend. She loved to cook, refinish and re-upholster furniture, paint, collect antiques, read mystery novels, and she would finish a crossword every day…. but above it all was her love and dedication to family.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Mary Addington Nickerson, and son, Michael Evan Bane. She is survived by her husband John David, her son Jonathan (Nicole) of Austin, TX, granddaughters Emma and Kayla, Sister Dianne Dale (Mitchell), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She leaves a legacy of pure honesty, and of loving God, family, and friends. Caring for others was her hallmark. She was so brave and so strong!
“Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower, we will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind.” -William Wadsworth
