Deborah Johnson Steinberg, age 69, of Richardson, Texas, passed away on July 14, 2022. She was born in Athens, Alabama, on June 4, 1953, to the late Andrew Clinton Johnson and Sarah Kathleen (Crawford) Johnson. Deborah is survived by her daughter, Tara Steinberg Weilbacher and her husband, Edward Brandon Weilbacher of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Lauren Blair Weilbacher and Blake Andrew Weilbacher; sister Wanda Crews of Athens, Alabama; brother Thomas Johnson and his wife Sandra (Leopard) Johnson of Tanner, Alabama; and her many relatives and friends.
Deborah (Debbie/Mimi) graduated from Tanner High School in 1971. She also attended Calhoun Community College and the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Deborah was an avid reader and loved gardening and planting flowers. She also found comfort in the kitchen and enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Cooking was her love language and she would happily share her famous chocolate pies or banana muffins with anyone! Deborah also had a special place in her heart for animals and loved dog sitting, especially Cowboy, who gave her so much happiness and companionship.
Deborah was truly one of a kind and had a heart of gold. She was one of the most generous and selfless individuals you could ever meet. Deborah loved her family and friends fiercely. She was immensely proud of her daughter and adored her grandchildren — the bond she shared with them is impossible to put into words. Spending time with family brought her pure joy, whether it was playing games or doing artwork with her grandchildren, or just sitting by the pool.
Deborah’s personality was full of honesty, wit and humor. Somehow she knew how to make us laugh when we needed it the most. But more importantly, Deborah was a hard-working, passionate woman of strength and resilience. She persevered even when times were tough. The sacrifices she made are a testament to her amazing character. Deborah was a woman of deep faith and we take comfort that she is now in Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her memory and legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 2,8 at 3:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary at St. Andrew United Methodist Church located at 5801 W. Plano Parkway in Plano, Texas.
