Absent from the body, Present with the Lord:
July 03, 2021. He was 93 years old.
He was number three of six boys, born into the family of Granville Glenn Jones and Leola Gertrude Davis. He is survived by two brothers, Calvin and Timothy Jones, and many nephews and nieces.
An Army Veteran serving from March 05, 1952 to March 05,1954. Dewey received his basic training at Ft. Bliss, Texas. Elsie joined him and he was transferred to Ft. Ord California. They saw some challenging days, and some of their happiest days meeting and making life-time friends. A class in radar sharpened his electronic skills.
Dewey had an interest for electronics from his youth and soon after returning from service was employed by a geophysical company as an electronic technician, maintaining test equipment and keeping the equipment calibrated to meet Government standards. They were used in developing and manufacturing of seismic instruments that were used all around the world, and were a major contributor in the Government's monitoring of nuclear events. The company also played a major roll in the seismic experiment on the Moon. He retired from the company after 36 years of service. He was liked and respected by the company and the people that he worked with.
Dewey was blessed with a loving, and faithful wife, Elsie Jane Leigh. They were married just short of 68 years when she died in March of 2016. Dewey has been living in assisted living and had a passion to return home. Today he is basking in the glory and love of his Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ, and rejoicing in his real home with his beloved, Elsie.
Dewey and Elsie did not have any children, but had a heart of generosity with contributions to family and friends, not only with their financial resources, but with their sensitivity and love in ways that helped in day to day challenges. Maybe it was an encouraging card or an act of kindness that changed a life.
