She met John Nelson Johnson, Jr in 1971 and they married August 2, 1972.
She was an avid Texas Rangers fan and spent many seasons in the stands cheering them on with her mom and sister.
She loved to camp and fish with family – you would easily find her riding the waves on jet skis on the lake. She spent time bowling with close friends and gambling. In her later years, she took up “pot” gardening and her mother’s favorite hobby of sewing.
You would commonly find her aggravating John in the “Toy Shop” as she designed and carefully crafted special “treasures” she would share with anyone she crossed paths with.
She is preceded in death by her father, Carl, and mother, “Granny”; and her children, Simeon Charles Slayton, III, Jeanette Johnson and Janine Johnson.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Johnson; her sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Rickey Adams; Grandchildren, Amber Matkovich and Charles Sandlin with his wife Rhian; several great-grandchildren; a nephew and grand-nephew.
