Ava Diane Lester was born on August 22, 1954, at 3:16 am at the Amarillo Air Force base hospital in Amarillo Texas. She weighed 3 lbs., 5 oz. She was 14 ½ inches long. Father was - Daniel Oliver Chapman and Mother- Barbara Ann Gould Chapman. Diane grew up in Amarillo, moved to Abernathy till about the age of 7 and move to Ft. Worth, then Dallas. She lived in North Dallas and went to school there and finally moved to Oak Cliff. Diane went back forth between Dallas and Abernathy. Diane attended Justin F Kimball in Dallas, Texas before moving back to Abernathy to graduate. Diane graduated from Abernathy High School, Abernathy Texas in 1972. After graduation she moved back to Oak Cliff. Diane met her future husband, Tommy Lester in November of 1972, while Tommy was a senior at Justin F Kimball. At the time Tommy's parents had moved to Conroe Texas and Tommy was staying in Dallas to finish high school. Tommy was living in a house alone, met Diane at a friend's house party, she did not have place to stay, moved in and never left Tommy till this day. Tommy and Diane were married on February 2, 1973. Diane started her working career as an administrated secretary in downtown Dallas. She was there for several years. Diane's first child, Thomas Matthew was born September 17, 1974 and second child Todd Ryan Lester September 27, 1978. Diane and Tommy moved to Madisonville Texas in January 2000. Diane joined the First United Methodist Church of Madisonville, Texas and became an active member. They moved to Temple Texas in January of 2007. Diane continued working in various positions in retail sales, she loved her customers. She was a great "people person" as this showed this in her relationship with her customers. Diane ended her retail sales career due to health issued in 2013. Diane's hobbies were sewing and collecting Castles. She had a talent for drawing, but never pursued that to her fullest potential. She also loved to read Christian romance novels. She loved blues and reds in items of clothes and things. Diane always had animals growing up, cat and dogs. She was very passionate with her animals. Diane grew up in the era of the Beatles and Rolling Stones, which of course were some of her favorites along with the Righteous Brothers- "Unchained Melody", was one of her favorites. Not to say Elvis was not forgotten. Later in life she turned to country music. Diane would always fight in the car as to which station we played on trips as I didn't like country. In our early years we vacationed extensively to Galveston at the family beach house where she loved the beach and sun. Sometimes too much, I always had to drag her home. Just like a kid it was "Let me stay for just a few more minutes." If she didn't get to go to the beach or pool, she would sun outside. Her last beach adventure was in Lake Ontario. Diane was strong will, and keeps arguing her point, till you agreed. This strong will carried her through her illness still the end. She did not want me to call an ambulance. Diane leaves behind sons Thomas Matthew Lester and Todd Ryan Lester, daughter in-law Priya Lester, grandchildren, Maya Lester and Ryan Lester. Her mother, Barbara Wommack, her sister Kathy Brashear and husband, Tommy of 43 years of marriage. A Memorial Service will be held at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel, 6000 South R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232 at 2:00 pm on Saturday February 20, 2016 with inurnment to follow immediately to follow.
