Diane Morchower Siegel
March 29, 1941 – June 14, 2018
Diane Morchower Siegel, beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Diane was born on March 29, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas. Her family moved to Dallas, where Diane graduated from Highland Park High School. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, Diane returned to Dallas and enjoyed her career as a teacher in the public school system, before beginning her most fulfilling job of raising three daughters. Over the years, she worked markets alongside her father in the family business, Dallas Handbag Company, and later launched her own successful business, Handbag and Accessory Factory Outlet. After selling her company, she enjoyed working for fifteen years as a sales associate in the jewelry department at Neiman Marcus. She loved being busy, working hard, interacting with customers and coworkers, and immersing herself in the fun world of retail and fashion until her retirement at the age of 73. Diane was preceded in death by her amazing parents, Dena and Earl Morchower, whom she adored. She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Siegel, daughter Amy Leifer and her husband, David, and daughter Stacy Simon and her husband, Stuart. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Bette Morchower, and their children, Karen and Andrew. Diane was an incredible “Grammy” to her four grandchildren, Sarah and Shannon Simon and Jacob and Zachary Leifer. Diane’s energy was infectious and her smile could light any room. She leaves a void that cannot be filled.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to Diane’s dedicated physicians, Drs. James Brugarolas, Robert Timmerman, and Christopher Hebert, who gave generously of their expertise, compassion, and friendship. The family is also deeply grateful to Janet Sanchez and Yeti Abebe for their unwavering care and support.
Diane’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Sunday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m. at Temple Emanu-El in Stern Chapel. If desired, donations to honor her memory may be made to the UT Southwestern Kidney Cancer Program or the charity of your choice.
