Dolores was a beloved member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church for over 40 years, where she was a choir member, Eucharistic Minister, handbell choir member, and participated in numerous other ministries.
Dolores volunteered with Mended Hearts at Medical City Hospital for over 22 years, and was also a Volunteer Concierge, greeting patients and visitors with her warm smile. She earned an award acknowledging her 8400 volunteer hours at the hospital and was also the recipient of numerous City Star and Excellence Always awards for her servant leadership and willingness to assist others.
Dolores was a most gracious hostess, welcoming her large circle of friends to her home for many celebrations over the years. She had a generous, gentle, and loving spirit. She was an accomplished organist and pianist, and gladly played as her friends sang along. She enjoyed gardening, as evidenced by the lovely landscape surrounding her home, and took great pleasure in her vacations to south Texas where she could bask in the peace and beauty of the surrounding nature.
Dolores earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Mount Mary College in 1964, a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music Therapy from the University of Wisconsin in 1970, and a Master of Education degree from Texas Woman’s University in 1979. After serving as a School Sister of Notre Dame for several years, Dolores moved to the North Texas area in 1974 and began her teaching career at the Denton State School. In 1986, she began working for the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) and taught elementary school. She retired from DISD after more than 30 years as an educator.
