

Dolores Meletio, a native Dallasite, was born July 7, 1926 to Charles and Mary Thomason. Her life on this earth ended on June 23, 2017. Dolores will be remembered as a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. James Meletio, her husband of 68 years, preceded her in death.
Dolores is survived by daughters Mary Lou Weiss (Eric), Lisa Roach (John), and Sr. Ann Meletio; sons Rocky Meletio (Joy), Martin Meletio (Valerie); grandchildren Chris Eppler (Elida Dahl), Eric Smith (Leslie), Nicholas Meletio, Matthew Meletio, Julia Kanneman (Adam); great grandchildren Koa Eppler-Dahl, Zephyr Lou-Ann Smith, Vix Falco Smith, Luke Kanneman, Grace Kanneman, and many nieces and nephews who were dear to her.
Following her graduation from Ursuline Academy, Dolores studied at SMU where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. Dolores was an accomplished cook and a gifted hostess. Dolores and James loved to entertain friends and family in their home which they called “the 4630 Club”. James gave Dolores the nickname “Lolo”, and that designation was used forever after. Her license plate read “Lolo M” for decades. During the 1950s and 1960s, Dolores was Treasurer of the Holy Trinity Altar Society and a contributing member of the Friday Afternoon Club. In 1991 Dolores was responsible for donating and relocating her grandparents’ home built in 1885 (known as the Sullivan House) to Dallas Heritage Village.
Dolores and James were fortunate in the family and friends who populated their life together. Dolores’ Welcoming Party to eternal life includes many of these people: her beloved James, Charlie & Mary, Sr. Adelaide, Margaret, Veronica, Rose, Dorothy, Jim Dan, Boy & Dee Dee, Alex & Ruth, Speedy, Jack & Betty, George, Elise & Charlie, Peggy, Otto & Jeannine, Mary Ardell, Duke & Layne, Mark, Erv, Morelle, Smitty & Audrin, Jim & Cherry, Rosemary, Jim & Joan, Tommy M., Jot, T.J. & Josephine, Charlie & Mary Elizabeth, Kathleen, Minni, Lakie, Betty D., and Martha.
The love story of James and Dolores lasted for 70+ years. It is a story of respect, honor, commitment, and passion. It is the love that Cole Porter wrote about: “Our Love is Here to Stay”.
The family is grateful for the many years of care which Dolores received from her loving caregivers Ovierheya Ogboru, Ethel Chitepo and Sarah Chitukutuku. The family also wishes to recognize the major contributions of Grace Hospice nurses Shari, Kristi, Augustina, and Julia under the direction of her long time physician Dr. Alan G. Kaye.
A celebration of Dolores’ life will be held on Saturday, July 1 in the North Chapel of Calvary Hill Home, 3235 Lombardy Ln. beginning with a rosary at 9:45 a.m. Msgr. Donald F. Zimmerman will then celebrate a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m.
