She was a kind and caring Christian role model to her six children, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two sisters, many nieces and nephews and countless friends and acquaintances whom she led and mentored by her example. Mother was a prayer warrior for all her loved ones. She loved and served Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, was a faithful and devout member of La Primera Asamblea de Dios for most of her life where she was very active in the Women’s Ministries.
Dominga used her gifts and talents and her desire to be a blessing to others in her life, at work and in her hobbies. She was a Fishburns silk finisher and later worked in the Sudie L. Williams Elementary DISD school cafeteria from which she retired after many years. In retirement, she volunteered in the English Learning Project of Chapel Hills Presbyterian Church.
Unstoppable, she always turned what appeared to be a challenge into sweet victories. She handled every emergency with calm swift action. Whether it was a child with a banged-up head or a torn dress hem on Sunday morning or not having all the ingredients listed on the recipe, she adjusted and handled each expertly and in no time it was as though the problem never had existed. The head was bandaged, the hem quickly sewn and a new recipe created. She was a strong woman of action, no matter what.
She was preceeded in death by her beloved husband, Eulojio Algarin, Sr., her parents, Albino and Maria Jacobo, and her brother, Carlos Jacobo.
She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Fox (Van), Ruth Copeland (Doug), Helen Moese (Eberhart), Margaret Henderson (Mark), Eulojio Algarin, Jr. (Brenda) and Maria Apple (Dale).
