

Don Boysen, Sr., 90, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012. Don was born October 6, 1921 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of the late Emil and Ruth Boysen, and the brother of Beverly Johnson. He is survived by his wife of over 63 years, Fayma,. Visitation will take place at Sparkman/Hillcrest on Monday, July 9, from 5-7 p.m., and a Memorial Service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Presbyterian Village North in the Joyce Hall Library. A private burial with full military honors will take place at the National Cemetery of Dallas.
He was active in the church, serving as an Elder at Walnut Hill Church of Christ in Dallas for 25 years and Hillcrest Heights Church of Christ in Gainesville, Texas, for five. Don baptized over thirty people and had the pleasure of performing the wedding ceremony for his son as well as for two of his Granddaughters. An avid outdoorsman, Don skied through the age of 70, hunted and fished at every opportunity, and could tell fish stories and sing Willie Nelson with the best of them. Don was also a talented wood worker, and was still actively building beautiful furniture and decorative items in the workshop. Despite his talent in the workshop, the most beautiful thing he built was his family. Known as Don, Daddy, Ole Dad, Grandad and Andad, his kind and giving spirit, determined heart and quick laugh will be missed, and memories of special times with him treasured.
Visitation will be Monday, July 9, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX
