Donald Fred Mills

July 5, 1955June 13, 2019

Don to his coworkers and Fred to his close family and friends, passed away in the early morning hours of June 13, 2019. He made many friends, including his “office-buddy” Lucille Buchanan, during his 32-year career with American Airlines, which began on October 29, 1986. Don was a voracious reader who loved to travel. He recently visited Hong Kong with his nephew Chance and Cincinnati and Kansas City to watch his niece Kelsey play volleyball. He also traveled the world collecting artist teddy bears, rabbits, and elephants. His musical taste spanned all genres and he still enjoyed listening to music on his iPod. His quick wit and honesty will be sorely missed by those closest to him, especially Lisa and Howard Milner, and Carla Wood. Our gratitude goes out to Dr. Stockton Roberts, Dr. Steve Perkins, Dr. Sam Finn and countless others who cared for and helped him manage his illness over the years. Even though there will be fewer trips to the Lego Store and Pixar Movie Premiers, Donald Fred Mills’ Legacy will live on through the joys he brought to this world. Along with his mementos such as vibrant needle point Christmas stockings and incredible eBay finds. He was preceded in death by his mother Fredeane Alyce Burch and his grandparents Fred and Opal Burch. He is survived by his sister Melissa D Mulligan and her husband Robert S. Mulligan, his nephew Patrick Sean Chance Mulligan and his niece Kelsey Shea Mulligan.

Go to a movie, read a book, don’t forget to vote and be kind- That’s what Fred would want!

I met Fred and his family at church in the mid 1960s. I spent many hours with a group of friends at his house as his mother was a magnet to many of us. He was a loyal friend and always ready with a laugh. I am deeply shocked and saddened as our loss leaves a great void.

Don will definitely be missed. Between him and Lucille they were the best teaching team I've ever had at AA! He helped me in and in tariff. A true American Airlines Hero!! I wish there were more agents like he was.
He is at rest now. May God bless his family and friends!

Don was one of the kindest neighbors and came to our rescue when we first moved into the neighborhood next door to his townhome. We were wanting to hang mobiles from our 22 foot ceiling and were perplexed as to how we could do it. Don just happened to pop into our townhome as we were in the midst of a complete remodel before moving in. We happened to mention we hoped to be hanging a lot of mobiles from our ceiling but hadn't found the solution to reaching up to the top. Bless his sweet heart, he jumped in with "Oh, I just happen to be storing some scaffolding in my garage and you are welcome to borrow it". It was a God send and he was our Angle!! We got the job done with the help of my son and all the rest of us giving directions!! I always knew we could call on him in an emergency!! That was just the kind of guy he was and he will be sorely missed!! God speed, Don!! We'll see you again one of these days!! Sending love and hugs to you!!

Dear Don,
You were a wonderful teacher and an unforgettable person. We bonded over Glee and Sarah Jessica Parker! I can never thank you enough for being the person you were. I will miss you. RIP

Missy & Rob,
Words, however kind, can’t mend the heartache, but those who care for Don share your grief and wish you and your family comfort and peace of mind.

Don, I miss you already!
I have am blessed to call you my friend.
I will miss him so much!
We worked together for many years in AA.Com & World Tariff.
Many long hours & late nights, but he always had a contagious smile.
He loved his family.
This still seems so surreal!
Just the other day, we were downstairs having lunch.
I asked him, How are doing? He smiled and responded, " Living the Dream!"
Rest in Heaven Don!
I love you!
