OBITUARY

Doreen Verne Cluck

July 23, 1932 – January 29, 2025
Obituary of Doreen Verne Cluck
IN THE CARE OF

Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home & Hillcrest Mausoleum & Memorial Park

Doreen Verne Cluck, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully in The Colony, Texas, on January 29, 2025, at the age of 92.

She left this world 24 years to the day after the passing of her dear husband, Claude H. Cluck, the love of her life, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage for over 25 years.

Doreen lived a vibrant and fulfilling life, filled with joy, positivity, and a deep love for helping others. She married Claude in 1970, and together they built a life rich in love and adventure. Early in her retirement, Doreen chose to care for Claude, becoming a beloved Avon Lady, affectionately known as the "ding dong" lady. This allowed her the freedom to set her own schedule while continuing to be there for her family.

Doreen was dedicated to her community, volunteering at RHD Hospital, Metrocrest Services in Carrollton, and the City of Addison. She always sought out ways to help others, spreading joy and warmth wherever she went. Her presence was like an electric spark that lit up any room, and those who met her will always remember her for her willingness to lend a hand and her infectious spirit.

An avid lover of music, Doreen sang in the choir at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where she found solace and joy in worship. Traveling was another of her great passions, and she explored the world, visiting places such as New Zealand, Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, the Panama Canal, and China. Yet, her favorite memories were always those spent with her family, whether on a beach or at the family farm in Illinois. Doreen leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service that will continue to inspire those who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana Cowden (J.T.) & Gayle Cluck Pestonjee (John); her sister, Nancy Verne Kellin; her grandchildren, David Cluck Jr., Trent Eric Cowden (Dusty), Jennifer Cowden (Mark) Katherine Pestonjee, Emily Pestonjee Bolan; and great-grandchildren, Amelia, Jaide, and Safiya. She was predeceased by her parents, as well as David Cluck Sr., Ernest Verne Sr., and George William Verne.

As a family, we ask that you remember Doreen not with sadness, but with celebration of her beautiful spirit. Her love and light touched all who knew her, and we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace. While our hearts will miss her deeply, we take solace in the knowledge that she is in a place of eternal peace.

In the not-too-distant future, we will gather together to celebrate Doreen’s life, as we know she would want us to do – perhaps on a beach, surrounded by the love and warmth she always radiated.

Rest in peace, Mamma, Granny, GG, Sister, Aunt, cousin, and friend. You will forever be in our hearts.
