Doris Loree Anderson was born on April 7, 1930, in Waskom, Texas, to the late Mathis Perkins and Elnora Dickson Perkins. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and united with New Boggy Baptist Church in Bethany, Louisiana. Doris was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, Louisiana.
In 1948, Doris married the love of her life, the late Wilson Anderson. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Debra and Glenda.
After moving to Dallas, Texas, Doris united with New Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. R. M. Robertson. Her church remained an important part of her life for more than sixty years. Before her health began to decline, Doris was a devoted and faithful member who could always be found in her familiar place on the third row. She continued her membership under the current leadership of Pastor Rayford Terrell.
Doris was employed by Merico for more than thirty years. Following the death of her husband, she retired and devoted herself more fully to the family she loved so dearly. Family was at the heart of Doris' life, and she played an instrumental role in raising her granddaughter and her three great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Nana.” Her presence, love, and influence helped shape generations of her family and created memories they will forever cherish.
Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilson Anderson; her parents, Mathis and Elnora Perkins; three brothers, Mathis Perkins Jr., Odell Perkins, and Freddie Perkins; and one sister, Essie D. Perkins.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her two daughters, Debra Thompson and Glenda Snowden; one granddaughter, Kimtesha Strange; three great-grandchildren, Brennan Morrison II, Lawren Strange, and Kennedy Strange; son-in-law, Maurice Snowden; grandson-in-law, Lawrence Strange Jr.; three sisters, Ethel Stephens, Willie Johnson, and Mable Wyche; one special niece, Betty Derrough; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and devoted healthcare providers at Angel Valley.
Doris lived a life rooted in faith, family, love, and devotion. Her legacy will continue through the generations she helped nurture, the family she loved so deeply, and the countless lives blessed by her presence. Though she will be greatly missed, the love and memories of Doris Loree Anderson will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
