Doris was born July 27, 1929, in Dallas, Texas, to William Clarence and Eva Keith McEntire. Doris loved Jesus Christ and attended Central Church of the Nazarene, where her parents were charter members.
Doris felt her greatest accomplishment was being a mother. Her children were her pride and joy! After her children were off to college, Doris blossomed and attended college; modeled for Barbizon, Sanger Harris and Vanity Fair, worked for Southwestern Bell and Western Union before retiring from Hunt Petroleum Company in 1998.
After her retirement, Doris and her husband Charles loved to travel throughout the country. Those travels are beautifully chronicled in photo albums she creatively designed.
God blessed Doris with the gifts of hospitality, homemaking, artistic talent and a profound love for learning. She was a voracious reader, beginning each morning by reading the newspaper cover-to-cover.
During the last five years of her life, Doris immensely enjoyed the company of her daughter – having fun shopping, attending estate sales, playing games, scenic drives - with necessary stops for her favorite Slurpee and lottery ticket which gave her the freedom to dream!
Doris is survived by her daughter, Eva Doris Bell; her nieces Sharon Byrd Smith and Karen Byrd Fitzhugh; cousin Shirley McEntire Lett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Wanda McEntire Byrd, her sons Clarence and Charlie Bell, husbands Walter Bell (1985) and Charles Davis (2012).
Services will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 5, 2019, with visitation prior at 2:00 pm.
